Who We Are

Hlokomela Bana Association is a non-profit, public benefit organisation founded in 1986 by the late Queen Mother ‘Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. Our mission is to support and uplift less privileged children, enabling them to thrive and build brighter futures.

Today, the Association continues under the patronage of Her Majesty ‘Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso. We are non-political and not organised for private gain — all efforts are dedicated to advancing charitable causes for children.

Our Origins
Early 1980s

During the reign of the late Queen Mother Mamohato Bereng Seeiso, “Hlokomela Bana” — meaning “Take Care of Children” — came into being. The initial mandate was to provide care and support for socially disadvantaged children in Lesotho.

In 2003, Her Majesty Queen Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso assumed patronage of the Association. Hlokomela Bana continues to care for orphaned and abandoned children across Lesotho.

Her Majesty tirelessly advocates for children’s rights and welfare, urging members to take concerted action in transforming the lives of vulnerable children within their communities.

The Association recognises responsibility toward every Mosotho child between the ages of 0 and 18.
